Supetarska Draga :

The fertile valley houses Supetarska Draga as well as Mundanije. Gornja and Donja (Upper and Lower) Draga have spread round the Draga Bay. The people of the Dragas have also combined modern and traditional ways of living, and this is easily sensed in tourist industry. There are guests who come back to the same hosts year after year, while new arrivals are quick to become attached to the place and the people.
The Draga Bay is protected too; it is shallow and calm, and here many birds nest and over-winter. Once upon the time there were salt pans hereof the three bays on the southwestern part of the island of Rab, Supetarska Draga lies in the central one. Because of its long sheltered bay, as well as a lovely beach near the village, Supetarska Draga is an attractive anchorage for a large number of boaters.

In the valley of Supetarska Draga there are the remains of a Benedictine monastery and St. Peter's Church, one of the most distinctive buildings of the period in Croatian territory. This monastery was founded in the second half of the 11th c., and it was abandoned in the 16th c. Archeological finds from this area are indicating the existence of some objects (probably of economic purpose) already in the ancient times, and there is a possibility that an Early Christian basilica was a predecessor of today's church.

Present-day church is a three-nave early-Romanesque basilica with semicircular apses, a sculpturally defined gable of the portal and a line of consoles which bear the garret-cornice. The type of basilica is characteristic for the island area of Kvarner (Krk, Rab).

A Romanesque bell-tower is preserved in its bottom portion, and it has been recently reconstructed in the upper zone. The preserved Gothic bell is from 1299, the oldest one on the eastern Adriatic coast. The monastery is abandoned in the 16th c., the building is later repeatedly rebuilt and today it serves partly as a parish house.

Supetarska Draga , a town and cove in the north-western part of the island of Rab, 7 km north of the town of Rab; population 1,114. The cove is the submerged part of the field of the same name, formed of flysh deposits. The north-eastern coast is more suitable for docking; the inner and south-western coasts are low, shallow and muddy. The cove offers a suitable pier with muddy and sandy bottom (the maximum depth reaching 33 m), particularly during the bora and the sirocco. The best anchorage for smaller yachts is in the middle of the cove of Dumici; larger vessels are docked in the middle of the cove of Supetarska Draga. Economy is based on farming, fishing and tourism. In 1984 a new marina was constructed. A 150-m long breakwater provides good protection against the winds of the fourth quadrant. Supetarska Draga is located on the main road (M29) which passes through the whole island of Rab.

This paradise is divided into two places, on the right is Supetarska Draga Gornja. There is also a marina located where you can go to the technical department in case of a problem with your motorboat.

If one follows this road one arrives in Lopar and San Marino. If you follow the left side of the bay, you arrive in Supetarska Draga Donja. Here one arrives in Dumići. At the end of this street you will see our pension - Restaurant Pivac on the left.

Your boat can best be watered on the left side of the bay Supetarska Draga on the yellow crane of Claudio and his father Branimir. They are cheaper and much faster than in the yacht harbor. They work very expertly and when you remove your boat they clean the underside of your boat with a high pressure. You can see the yellow crane from everywhere. If you have no good parking for your trailer at the house you rent, you can also park it here for € 1 per day. Take a lock from home to protect him.

Supetarska Draga is also interesting to people who come in boats; they are not limited to mooring off the shore, but can stay briefly by one of the neighbouring islets, Maman, Srednjak or Sailovac. In a sheltered cove are little islands which tourists frequently visit by hydrofoil and boats. These islands have sandy beaches and grottos as well as a rich undersea world of interest to sports fishermen. Many of the beaches are free for naturists. By the road to Lopar is a restored old water mill, the only one on the island.
