Diving Base " Aquasport " www.aquasport.hr | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Our diving base exists since 1995 and we are trying to give our guests a family atmosphere and lots of fun. Diving base is situated just near the sea. You just have to walk up the stairs. But don't worry, there is also a separate "room" for you to leave your equipment so you don't have to carry it up'n'down every day. We are located in Supetarska Draga on island Rab in a small cove called Gonar which is a great place for a relaxing family holidays. Gonar is also suitable for people with boats because of its position and various anchor points. There two shops and three restaurants nearby in which you can find meals of the traditional Mediterranean cuisine. This diving club also has very nice and luxurious apartments and is preferably rented out to people who also come to dive. For more info you can always inform them on their website (more info below). For those of you interested in statistical information, here it goes:
The boat has a platform for easier immersing and emerging and it is also equipped with medical gear, radio station, and a cell phone in case of emergency. Compressor station and storage room is situated just near the sea so you don't have to worry about equipment transport during your stay with us. This is an ideal place for those of you who are trying to run away from the diving industry. We are a diving family and we want that every one of you feels at home. Daily schedule can be easily adjusted according to your wishes and needs (breakfast is possible even at noon and hot donuts or pancakes at 3:00 AM after the night dive). Our wish is that you return home satisfied, relaxed, refreshed and happy! A short overview of what we have to offer:
Our dives are not time or bottle-size limited because we want to offer you a true diving pleasure and complete underwater relaxation. Of course, safety has always been our top priority and we have two experienced diving instructors that will keep you safe. Diving school is based on the SSI standards in a modern way which includes individual approach and didactic materials. Every student receives the following:
There is complete equipment, TV and DVD available for a student, plus, there is an option of interactive learning using the computer. Besides training adults, we offer a school for children older than 12 years (Junior Open Water Diver). Diving is a wonderful sport but unfortunately some people can't get rid of fear of water although they are anxious to learn how to dive. In order to save your money and time we give you the opportunity to take a "test dive" (a.k.a. scuba discovery) so you can evaluate yourself and your abilities.
On one of his usual dives, our diving instructor Riko had discovered his life's dream. He found a location of antique shipwreck with more than 125 greek-italo type amphoraes over 2200 years old. He immediately notified the Croatian Department for Archeological Research of his discovery. A team of archeologists, restaurateurs and film-makers made a first investigation of the area and found out what lies beneath all those amphoraes - remains of an antique ship! This location is one of the best preserved areas in entire Adriatic sea and had therefore been well protected with a cage until further researches have been made. It also represents an attractive diving destination. Two of those amphoraes are exposed in our diving base so that all people can see them and enjoy their beauty.
Price A includes: boat transportation, filling of diving bottle with air and a guide. Special discounts for diving groups in agreement with the group's leader.
Below some reaction to a dive forum:
We have dived with a group of divers for several years with the Aquasport diving base on the island of Rab: If the weather is good, this does not mean too much wind, you can do beautiful dives. Accommodation is good and the food that Tanja prepares for you is delicious. Rico the skipper, instructor, handyman is always willing to find at what hour of the day to go if the wind is in the right hole. Small diving base where everything is possible and nothing should! Opposite the island of Rab lies the island of Cres. This is accessible from Rab but it can take about 2 hours. There is the "Cutin Reef". This reef is almost comparable to Egypt. The islands around Rab also have very nice dive sites: Grgur, Pianora, Maman, Kalifront, Srijednjak etc. And there is even an amphora field that is covered to protect. There would be another Roman galleon beneath the sand that one does not dare to dig up because the wood structure threatens to fall apart. Our choice is always fixed: if we have to choose between Spain or Croatia, Rab always gets the preference. Disadvantage of the Mediterranean and the Adriatic: cold and can not always be sailed out because of the weather! Weethetnie's response: Until two years ago we went diving on the island of Rab. There everything was possible and nothing had to be done. Hours and dive sites you could decide yourself, depending on the weather. The owner of the dive base has discovered an amphora field and has a license exclusively for him. The dive sites are similar to Spain. I recommend to do a dive on "Cutin Reef", richly overgrown and samples of lobsters. If you are going to dive there, you will greet Riko with "nice fucked", he will call you back "nice fucked" because he is still in the delusion that this means good morning! (Haha, he just makes you wise) We stayed with Pivac, which you can book on this site, and this very cozy hotel is located about 1 km from the dive base. Food is super. There are many Belgians in that hotel. In the holiday season, the sea can be a bit busier with other water sports. We always went in the spring, disadvantage is that it is colder in the water. In August, however, it must be comparable to Spain. In any case a cozy island and cozy diving center! Nathalie's response: |
